Marianne Christensen

Storyteller

Marianne Christensen (born 1954) has been a teacher 'forever', and storytelling has been a natural part of her life, in her family, in her teaching and coaching. Since 2005 she has worked with 'Storytelling as a healing art'. She believes that by changing the story of your life, you can change your perception and reframe events, trauma etc. She has arranged many storytelling events in her living room, she has hosted local and international storytelling festivals and seminars, and she has participated as a storyteller and teacher in storytelling festivals in USA, Scandinavia, India, Germany, England, Kenya and Estonia. She has worked as a teacher for children and adults for many years in public schools and the last ten years as self-employed where she gives writing- and storytelling classes.
When the pandemic began, she lost her jobs as a storyteller and public speaker. She had just published a book and was ready to go 'on the road' to present the book to live audiences. Instead of going out she began using ZOOM as a platform to meet heraudience. It turned out that this way of communication had some benefits, she had not foreseen and which will change her way of keeping in touch with her students and listeners in the future. She has written two poetry collections and a book with personal stories about a life without children.
