Biography

Charles, originally from Toronto, Canada, has lived in Hong Kong for over two decades. He has held Asia Pacific regional human resources responsibilities for Rockwell Automation, Juniper Networks and Citrix Systems. He is currently the Head of Human Resources for English Schools Foundation (ESF), his current role. ESF is the largest English-speaking education system (K - 13) in Asia with 22 schools, 19000 students and over 4,000 employees. Reporting to the CEO, Charles also oversees IT for ESF.

Charles started his career as an entrepreneur in Canada when he was 16 years old. The success of his company landed him on the cover Canadian Business Magazine at 22 years old. The formative years as a general manager planted a fascination for everything leadership, culture and insightful. Charles holds a Bachelors Degree in Administrative Studies, Post-Graduate Diploma in Asia Pacific Management Studies and MBA from the Kellogg - HKUST MBA program.

In November 2014 Charles delivered a Hong Kong TedX Talk entitled, "Leading Through the Green Light.” The TedX talk can be viewed here: https://goo.gl/Izm7Jx. Shortly Charles second TedX talk will be released entitled “Love as a Leadership Skill.” Charles regularly delivers talks or articles on leadership at conferences and is the recipient of numerous awards.

Charles met his wife, Tess, over the Internet in 1996. They live in Hong Kong with their sixteen-year-old son and fourteen-year old triplets. (Being in HR, Charles claims he “has headcount issues everywhere!”) Charles is a Deacon of Union Church and a Board Member for International Care Ministries – an organization dedicated to helping the ultra-poor in the Philippines.
